New Features in Intune 2411 Service Release

Let’s go through the new features and improvements that were added to the Intune 2411 service release, released in the month of November 2024. For more details, refer to Microsoft documentation on Intune 2411 New Features.

Microsoft Teams app protection on VisionOS devices

Microsoft Intune app protection policies (APP) are now supported on VisionOS devices running the Microsoft Teams app. This feature is released in preview and you can test it out in your setup.

Installation error reporting for LOB apps on AOSP devices

Starting in Intune 2411, additional details are now provided for app installation reporting of Line of Business (LOB) apps on Android Open Source Project (AOSP) devices. You can view installation error codes and detailed error messages for LOB apps in Intune. This is a fantastic feature that greatly simplifies the process of troubleshooting app installation errors.

Set Copilot Hardware Key

Starting in Intune service release 2411, the Settings Catalog in Intune now includes a new setting called Set Copilot Hardware Key. You can configure the hardware key for the copilot button with this setting. You should find this setting by navigating to Devices > Manage devices > Configuration > Create > New policy > Windows 10 and later for platform > Settings catalog.

New device actions for single device query

In the 2411 release, Microsoft has introduced the Intune remote device actions to single device queries to help you manage your devices remotely. From the device query interface, you’ll be able to run device actions based on query results for faster and more efficient troubleshooting. This feature is exclusively for Windows devices.

Device Firmware Configuration Interface support for Samsung devices

Starting with the 2411 service release of Intune, you can now use DFCI profiles to manage UEFI (BIOS) settings for Samsung devices that run Windows 10 or Windows 11. Not all Samsung devices running Windows are enabled for DFCI.

Store macOS certificates in user keychain

A new deployment channel setting in Microsoft Intune enables you to store macOS authentication certificates in the user keychain. This enhancement strengthens system security and improves the user experience by reducing certificate prompts.

Prior to this change, Microsoft Intune automatically stored user and device certificates in the system keychain.

Both the SCEP and PKCS certificate profiles for macOS, as well as the VPN, Wi-Fi, and wired network settings configuration profiles for macOS, offer the deployment channel setting.

Device Inventory for Windows

Device inventory lets you collect and view additional hardware properties from your managed devices to help you better understand the state of your devices and make business decisions.

Using the property catalog, you can now select the properties you wish to gather from your devices. Then, you can view the properties you have gathered in the Resource Explorer view.

New Protected App in Intune 2411

The Intune protected apps are enabled with a rich set of mobile application protection policies. Microsoft Designer by Microsoft Corporation is the new protected app added with the Intune 2411 release.
